Healthcare Law & Medical Liability

We advise patients, families, healthcare professionals and institutions on civil, criminal and disciplinary issues arising from alleged medical negligence. An initial assessment considers the medical records, the applicable standard of care, causation, loss and the relevant limitation periods.

How we can assist

Initial Case Assessment

Review of the available medical history and records, with input from an appropriately qualified independent medical expert when the issues require it.

Medical Record Collection

Assistance with lawful requests for medical records, examination results, operative notes and nursing records from public or private healthcare providers.

Substantiation of Breach of Duty

Establishing deviations from accepted standards of medical care and science (lege artis), proving proximate causation.

Civil Torts & Damage Claims

Drafting and litigating medical malpractice lawsuits to recover damages for medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering, or wrongful death.

Criminal Prosecution Support

Filing criminal complaints and acting as counsel for the prosecution (υποστήριξη κατηγορίας) in cases of negligent bodily injury or involuntary manslaughter.

Disciplinary Proceedings

Initiating formal complaints and regulatory actions before competent Medical Associations and hospital disciplinary boards.

Surgical & Iatrogenic Errors

Litigating claims involving intraoperative injuries, retained foreign objects, anesthesia errors, or improper surgical techniques.

Diagnostic Failure

Managing high-stakes claims regarding misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, or failure to diagnose critical conditions (e.g., oncology cases) resulting in adverse prognoses.

Obstetric & Birth Injury Negligence

Legal representation for trauma inflicted during pregnancy, labor, or delivery resulting in birth injuries to the infant or maternal harm.

Frequently asked questions

Does an adverse medical outcome automatically establish negligence

No. The assessment must examine the standard of care, whether it was breached, whether that breach caused the alleged harm and what loss resulted.

Which records are useful for an initial assessment

Discharge letters, test results, imaging, operative notes, consent forms, prescriptions and a clear chronology are usually helpful. A complete record may be requested if important documents are missing.

Are there deadlines for medical-liability claims

Yes. Different civil, criminal, administrative or disciplinary routes may have different deadlines. Prompt advice is important, particularly where treatment occurred some time ago.

This information is general and does not constitute legal advice. Advice depends on the facts of each matter.

Contact the firm with a short chronology and the medical documents currently available. We will explain whether further records or independent medical input are required.
